Alexander Claas from Germany is making some very interesting modern guitars. Note the body where the upper horn is normally located. It is connected to the neck all the way to the 10th fret. This allows a very sturdy connection of the neck to the body, and actually allows the neck to be thinner than normal since the body supplies some stress relief. All his hardware is stainless steel too. He’s a pretty young luthier so somebody to look out for in the future when it comes to modern guitar designs.
