Aaron Marshall Signature Schecter - jtkung - 10-14-2022

Really looking forward to this. It's basically priced in between a mid-end guitar and the higher-priced USA customs.  So about $1400 USD. But with essentially all the features of a USA-made guitar -- including the HW and pickups! And a Wenge neck!

If you look at the Nick Johnston Schecter, the differences between the Indonesian and USA made guitars are
  • Neck: Wenge (USA) vs roasted maple (Indonesia)
  • Better HW (tuners, bridge, and pickups) on the USA-made guitar

But if you add up these upgrades, there's no way its an extra $2k+ which is what Schecter charges. Ridiculous. Because you can't make the argument that USA-made labor is better. No way that is true anymore.

So basically the Aaron Marshall Schecter rectifies this -- has everything made in Indonesia, but with the better HW. And so the price is less than 50% of the USA signatures!  Great!

This is a bowshot to the USA custom shops out there -- that the Asian-made stuff is coming at the high-end and might possibly crush you. You cannot argue now that the quality and workmanship in Asia is inferior to the USA. In many cases, it's the opposite.  I own a NJ Schecter made in Indonesia -- for like $800, and it clearly holds its own against guitars from Suhr, Grosh, Anderson, etc. which are priced >$4K.  Even Nick Johnston himself in multiple videos has been amazed at the quality and playability of the Indonesian guitars. He actually uses a few on tour. I bet he replaces the pickups with his USA sig ones -- because we know the pickups make a big difference -- not the "tonewoods."
