I noticed there is a race going on -- who can have the most bling on a guitar -- especially the finish. Skervesen, PRS, Mayones,  etc. really going nuts with quilted or striped maple, burls, and highly figured tops with color-saturated finishes.  Lots of eye candy to be sure -- but how do they play and sound? A lot of attention paid to how it looks, but in my opinion, not as much on the design, playability, and tone.
