Holy crap -- the owner and founder, Jack DeVille, of Mr. Black pedals  -- is a genius.  He really knows how to design unique pedals using DSP processing.  He's also a very funny educator -- with his witty commentary and tutorials.  Check this out:  https://www.mrblackpedals.com/blogs/straight-jive. His pedals offer straight-ahead, non-nonsense features, simplistic yet with an amazing palate of tonal bliss.  And all very affordable. 
I especially like two of his pedals. They all seem to have a sinister feel to them. Not sure how to quantify that.
