Modern shredder guitar makers
#1
There are many makers today of the same type of guitar: 6,7,8 string, multi-scale, stainless steel frets, bolt-on, multi-laminate neck, exotic woods and finishes, strat-style body.  Sadly, you can't tell them apart anymore. They offer the same things, with very little in differentiation.

  • Carillion
  • Skervesen
  • Mayones
  • Mermet
  • OD
  • Daemoness
  • Barlow
  • Vandermeij
These are all spectacular guitars but seem to follow the same blueprint of CNC milled exotic woods and finishes. What I don't see are unique construction methods, woods or materials. Some have ventured into headless versions, but they seem to be an afterthought.

Don't get me wrong -- I love all these modern makers. It just seems they are trying to outdo one another by how fancy their bling is -- using exotic woods, colours, finishes, and inlays.  I tend to like differentiation by design, construction, and unique materials.
