I’ve always considered the truly exceptional guitars as modern, functional art. This is clearly evident in Jersey Girl Guitars which was formed in 1991 by two luthiers in Japan, Kaz Goto & Akiko Oda. Each guitar is an art composition, and it clearly shows in their models.
Notable in their designs is the use of multiple guitar woods as a collage to form interesting patterns and shapes on the guitar body. The compositions have a distinct Southwestern influence with a dash of Art Deco. Visually stunning and unique in the guitar world.
