McConnell Guitars is well known in specific circles for phenomenal acoustic guitars, but he’s also made some tremendous electric guitars that have hybrid characteristics between acoustics and electrics. These features include premium tone woods, arm bevels, acoustic guitar-like constructions and inlays/bindings as you would find in high-end acoustics. But add more conventional electric bridges, tailpieces, and semi-hollow body constructions that are a kin to electrics.
I especially like his e003 guitar which clearly displays these features. It has a Wenge back and sides with sinker Sitka spruce top. Mahogany neck with ebony fretboard, binding and appointments. Loaded with custom Bare Knuckle Pickups and a Bigsby vibrato.
Wow — Bigsby no less! It’s like someone mated a high-end acoustic with a Les Paul. His attention to intricate details and workmanship are stunning to say the least. And all for the price that’s less than a PRS Private Stock.
