NK Forster is a maker in England making some archtops with a very unique tailpiece. Typically, an archtop’s strings would pass over a bridge which is the main component that transmits the string vibrations to the soundboard top. The strings would then be anchored in a tailpiece which is located at the rear of the guitar.
NK instead integrates the tailpiece right at the bridge by employing what looks like an extended neck with a headless-type end point atop the bridge itself. This makes the strings well above the soundboard, with the neck designed to allow alignment parallel to the frets. This is a unique construction method. Since the strings are anchored to a mass that is somewhat far from the soundboard, I wonder how well the vibrations transmit through the structure and into the top. This will determine the tonal quality and volume. Definitely some unique ideas in this archtop!
