A young master luthier from Puerto Rico, Raulo Guitars uses interesting wood combinations in conjunction with guitar designs which fuse acoustic and archtop construction.
Shown here is the Era -1900 Acoustic Guitar PurpleHeart/Majó (jumbo). Note the interesting characteristics:
- Unique woods (purpleheart)
- Unique soundhole shape and position with controls located in the hole
- Bevels, top and side construction similar to modern acoustics
- Bridge and tailpiece reminiscent of archtops
- Piezo saddles but with an added single-coil mag pickup
- Multi-scale
I can’t recall any guitars that fuse an acoustic with an archtop in this way. Bravo!
