Rick Toone has been showcased before with his innovative designs melding modern materials with traditional wood elements. The USM-PRO is no exception. It’s similar to his previous Dark Matter and the Ultimate Shred Machine guitars, but headless.
This design is a bit more conventional, following a very nice strat-style shape with an elongated upper horn and wider lower horn. The all-black color scheme takes direction from the carbon-fibre materials, and the stainless steel tuners look fantastic with their fine machined appearance. The multi-scale is nicely done on a 6-string with an all aluminum neck. I would love to hear what this combination sounds like as Aluminum has a reputation for a unique sonic signature.
This is a space-age, modern guitar for the 21st century.
