Michael Spalt is known for his conventional guitars with a unique finish and artistry. An example is below:
However, he has ventured into unexplored territory with his Apex hybrid guitar. It reminds me of the Teuffel Birdfish in that it uses a metal base to which wood components and metal hardware are attached to create the guitar. The pointy looks and general design do conjure images of some sort of futuristic weapon, however, so it isn’t subtle by any means. But then again, most of what Spalt produces is not subtle!
