Verdinero Steel String

Ralf Martens has designed this Verdinero Guitars model. It’s an acoustic/electric flattop steelstring guitar with floating fretboard, offset soundhole, Swiss alpine spruce soundboard, ebony bindings and fretboard.  The striking part of this guitar is the offset sound hole in the top upper bout — the shape a bit reminiscent of Ryan-style bevels in acoustic guitars usually reserved for the arm rest in the lower bout. This type of sound hole design has also been previously executed by Michael Sankey.   It looks great, but an acoustic guitar needs a large sound hole to project the sound, so I wonder how loud this instrument can get acoustically, as well as the directionality of the sound. It may need a transducer to achieve this.

Regardless, the design is quite nice, clean, and well-executed.
